Why You Hold Back

Christina Frei Uncategorized

I’ve been talking to lots of people about the Generosity Practice work and my new program, The Integrated Leader. And what I hear from women is that they often lack the confidence to go for what they want and be who they really are. They hold back.  For example, if women in the public eye had more confidence as women, not simply as leaders, I submit they’d cry a LOT more in public and people would sense how much they care about things.

Here’s what’s missing: when you know deeply that you are a contribution, self-doubt dissolves and you just go for it. There’s no reason to apologize, you don’t feel selfish, you’re not worried about what people think, because you know you are part of a bigger picture. And you can DECIDE that.

That’s Generosity Practice.

I’ll give you an example. I’ve been on TV and I’ve written a book about the historical hotties, the Founding Fathers, but even so, I sometimes feel shy about reaching out to successful people related to The Generosity Practice. One morning I worried that I wasn’t good enough to ask a longtime mentor and best-selling author to be in my movie about generosity.

So I did my morning GP practice (10 entire minutes), which reminded me that I make the world a better place, that I care about people, and that my work supports people in a beautiful way.  I emailed the author and she said…YES!  I’ve also contacted several other transformational experts that I admire and five of them have already said YES!

Other business owners use GP before client meetings, before interviewing potential employees, and before high-powered meetings with their accountants and lawyers. They ask for the business (and they get it). They lovingly lay down the line with interviewees, and get much higher quality employees.

I want you to be comfortable in your own skin, someone who can just ask for what she wants, without the drama.

I want you to enjoy the feeling of giving and contributing in a totally satisfying way, even when you’re not overly helping someone. There is nothing better.

Let’s have a Discovery Session about your mission, and where you are headed next. Can’t wait to hear all about it.
